Radiant Systems Announces Launch of Real-time Alerting Tool for the Retail Industry

CounterPoint SmartAlerts™ provides retailers concise, actionable data on store activities via mobile technology

ATLANTA (June 23, 2010) — Radiant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: RADS) today announced that it has launched CounterPoint SmartAlerts™, a powerful new tool within its CounterPoint retail  product suite that helps retailers monitor activities within each of their stores by receiving timely alerts via SMS text and e-mail. SmartAlerts analyzes retail point-of-sale (POS) transactions, customer information and inventory data to help retailers improve operations, prevent fraud and provide better customer service by offering over 20 key performance indicator alerts.

“We have seen increased employee morale and improved customer satisfaction within each of our retail locations since implementing SmartAlerts,” said Jay Margedant, president of Red Bandanna, a pet food and supplies store with ten locations in the metro Atlanta area. “One alert we receive is for sales over a set dollar amount, which allows me to congratulate the manager of that store and instantly call the customer to thank them for their business. The flash sales alert is also especially valuable for us to see if we are on track to hit our daily sales goals so that we can make adjustments to ensure we stay on target,” Margedant continued.

SmartAlerts enables retailers to easily monitor their businesses at all times, no matter where the owners and managers are, so that immediate action can be taken based on alerted activity that could affect their bottom lines. By providing instant intelligence with concise messages to the retailers’ mobile devices of choice, SmartAlerts helps them run their businesses with extremely tight control over store operations and an increased focus on fraud prevention and customer satisfaction. SmartAlerts is fully integrated with the CounterPoint retail POS software, allowing operators to configure alerts to be received instantly when conditions are discovered that fall outside of set guidelines.

“It is often difficult for retail operators to be in each of their stores on a consistent basis,” said Chris Lybeer, vice president of product development for the retail, sports and entertainment division at Radiant Systems. “The value of SmartAlerts as a tool is that it acts as the eyes and ears of an operator to provide them with actionable data occurring within their sites. SmartAlerts is a prime example of Radiant’s mission to provide innovative technology for retailers that helps them improve operations, enhance customer service and increase security measures to maximize their bottom lines.”
